Remember These In Prayer:
Sherry Carden continues to recover at home after being hospitalized last week with pneumonia. She is under treatment by home health.
Janice Moze will undergo surgery at The Cleveland Clinic on June 19 to replace a heart valve. Pray that all will go well for our sister.
Skylar Strong will meet with specialists this week at
The University Of Kentucky Medical Center for the next step in planning
her kidney transplant.
Katie Selby, wife of June and Fred Selby’s grandson
Tyler, is facing an anxious time this morning as she awaits a ruling by a
judge in Ethiopia. Katie struck and killed a woman a few weeks ago who
stepped in front of her car; Katie was found to be not at fault, but
this judge must make an official finding before the Selbys can leave
Ethiopia to return to the U.S. Take a moment to pray for God’s
blessings on this matter, and that all will turn out well.
Tina Thornton, a lady in the community for whom we
prayed a few months ago, is going through severe health challenges and
has asked for our prayers again. She has been hospitalized three
different times in recent weeks, and is suffering serious fluid
retention issues. A kidney biopsy is being planned, and one possibility
is a type of blood cancer. Her daughter Brittany continues to have
health problems, too. She writes: “Please just lift us up in
prayer. I have no one else to ask, but even if I did I would want the
ones I have the most faith in at the top of the list. That is you.“
Carl Walker, neighbor and friend of Central, remains at
Signature Health Care Center in Elizabethton as he recovers from
advance pneumonia. His recovery seems to have stalled, and he is having
difficulty keeping down any food or drink.
The family of Lambert Murphy, the husband of Gene
Arrowood’s sister Mary, continues to mourn his passing last week at the
age of 92. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday in
Falls Church, Virginia, and Gene will leave today to attend that service
with his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Gary Phillips.
VBS Has Begun!
Sunday evening saw a small army of children in attendance for opening
night of our annual Vacation Bible School. The learning and fun
continues through Wednesday evening, and goes from 6:30 to 8:00 each
night. Bring your children, grandchildren, neighbors’ children – anyone
you can bring! Children learn powerful lessons at VBS, and so do
adults.

Expressions Of Thanks
came on Sunday from men at Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain
City. One man in worship on the main compound said, “Send our love and
thanks to the church for all they do to help and encourage us.” Two
recent converts to Christ asked that we thank those who have written to
them; “Their cards mean more to us than we can express,” they said.
Central’s efforts are making a difference in the lives of many who are
behind bars. Sunday’s worship on the main compound saw a record 36
present.
A Fun Day At High Rock!
Saturday’s “Family Day” at High Rock Bible Camp drew a large number of
families from around the area. They were shown some of the improvements
recently made at the camp, including new restroom facilities, a new
director’s and nurse’s area, and air conditioning in the dining hall.
Teen Camp at High Rock begins next Sunday, and Preteen Week begins the
following Sunday. Go to this site for more information, and to register for camp. Scholarships are available to help those who can’t afford some or all of the fee.
Burden Bearers: * “No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another. Thank you.” (Joseph Addison) * “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
