“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”  James 4:8

Daily Bible Reading: John 9:1-41 (“We must work the works of Him who sent Me while it iss day; night is coming, when no one can work.”)

This Week’s Memory Verse:I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

Remember These In Prayer:

The family of Lee Davis is mourning his passing on Friday afternoon at Johnson City Medical Center after a struggle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).  Lee and Carla have been faithful members of Central for many years, and his presence will be greatly missed.  It was his wish that there be no funeral service; a private family service will be conducted in Memphis at a later time.  Morris Baker Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements, and an obituary will be published soon.  Keep Carla and her family in your prayers.

Jordan Simerly continues to undergo evaluations for the lymphoma he was recently found to have.  Nothing has yet been said about a program of treatment.

Juanita Mathes is at Quillen Rehab Hospital as she recovers from a fall at her home a few days ago.

Jennifer Easterling is scheduled to undergo thyroid surgery on January 8 at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport.  She will likely be kept overnight following the surgery.  She asks for our prayers for all to go well.

Macy Street, granddaughter of Teresa and Eugene Wolfe, fell Thursday evening and broke her ankle.  She was to have undergone surgery on Friday to repair the break.  Teresa asks that we say a prayer for healing and relief to be given.

Martha Forbes, aunt of Rebekah Hunt, has been having quite a difficult time with fractures in her lower spine.  Rebekah asks that we pray for her relief.

Doug, a cousin of Laurie Norton who lives in Canada, has learned he has a rare form of cancer.  He and his family are waiting to see what can be done.

The family of David Forinash, father of Geri Mahaley, is continuing to mourn his unexpected passing on Sunday evening.  The family will receive friends today from 1:00 until 2:45 at First United Methodist Church in Elizabethton, with a funeral service following at 3:00.  You may view his obituary by clicking here.

Honor God Tomorrow by gathering with His saints to worship Him and to learn His will.  Be with us for Bible study at 9:15, and for worship at 10:15 and at 6:00.

What We See: If you click on this link you’ll be taken to a beautifully sung a cappella rendition of “Be Thou My Vision”, an older hymn filled with power and devotion.  As you listen you’ll also see the words to the hymn and a background of stunning nature photography.  Enjoy!

So Senseless:  *  “Atheism is so senseless.  When I look at the solar system, I see the earth at the right distance from the sun to receive the proper amounts of heat and light.  This did not happen by chance.”  (Isaac Newton)  *  “He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing. He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not split open under them. He covers the face of the full moon and spreads over it his cloud. He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.”  (Job 26:7-10)
