Sherry Carden was to have undergone a motility study on Thursday in Knoxville.  No information has been received about how things went, but let’s continue our prayers that she will be given help with her swallowing issues.

Lin Chisam, mother of Scott Chisam, is scheduled to undergo surgery today at Johnson City Medical Center to implant two stents.

Three New Brothers In Christ!!  On Thursday three men from Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City confessed their faith in Jesus as the Son of God and were baptized for the forgiveness of their sins.  Nathan Callahan, ID # 246369, has been a student in the just-completed “Managing My Anger” class; he has also been attending our worship services in recent months.  Julian Harris, ID # 607737. and Jacob Rice, ID # 496972, had just submitted requests to the chaplain’s office to speak with someone about baptism.  After studying with each of them about the simple plan of salvation, they stated their readiness to obey the gospel.  Let us praise God for these opportunities to teach searching souls the truth of New Testament Christianity.  Pray that they will be strong in their new faith.

If You’d Like To Encourage these new brothers in Christ, it will be very meaningful to each of them.  Please follow these guidelines if you wish to send them a card or letter: (1) Put the name of the inmate along with his ID # on the envelope, addressed to NECX, P.O. Box 5000, Mountain City, TN, 37683-5000; (2) use a pen name instead of your actual name; (3) use Central’s address for the return address; (4) leave the envelope unsealed; and (5) bring the cards to us and we’ll meter the postage (stamps are not allowed).  Also, please don’t send anything but your heartfelt well wishes.

Be Grateful:  *  “Be grateful for what you have and stop complaining – it bores everyone else, does you no good, and doesn’t solve any problems.”  (Zig Ziglar)  *  “Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.”  (Ephesians 5:4)
